Anti-Poverty Week (13 - 19 October 2024) is a crucial time to raise awareness about homelessness in Australia.
At Biyani House, we see every day the urgent need for support, as domestic and family violence forces many women and children into poverty and homelessness. But what is the scale of poverty in Australia?
Did you know that housing stress and poverty are closely linked? A lack of affordable housing pushes many families to the brink, leaving them vulnerable to homelessness. In 2021, over 122,000 Australians were reported homeless, with women and children disproportionately affected. Domestic and family violence remains a leading cause of homelessness for women, forcing them to leave unsafe homes with nowhere to go.
At Biyani House, we provide a safe haven for women and children fleeing domestic and family abuse. But we need your help. As demand for emergency accommodation and support services continues to grow, your donations ensure that we can continue offering life-changing support.
During Anti-Poverty Week, we’re asking for your support. Every donation goes directly towards:
Safe shelter for women and children
Access to essential services such as counselling and legal advice
Long-term solutions to help break the cycle of poverty and homelessness
Your generosity helps us provide a brighter future for women and children in crisis. Poverty shouldn’t mean homelessness. Let’s work together to ensure that every woman and child in our community has a safe place to call home.
Donate to Biyani House today and be part of the solution during Anti-Poverty Week 2024. Together, we can make lasting change.
